Pacific Northwest Yacht Delivery

Seattle, Anacortes and Puget Sound are one of the busiest ends of our run. We deliver power and sail yachts between the Pacific Northwest and California, Mexico, Alaska and beyond — and it's the route we run most.

The Pacific Northwest is a natural hub for West Coast yacht delivery. Anacortes and Seattle are where a large share of long-range trawlers are based, refit, and handed over, so boats are constantly moving between Puget Sound and Southern California, Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska. We've made the San Diego–Anacortes run many times, in both directions, on power and sail.

A Northwest delivery is a real coastal-offshore passage, not a protected-water hop. Between the Columbia River and Cape Mendocino the open coast has few all-weather harbors, so the passage has to be planned around weather windows and the boat kept self-sufficient. At the northern end, the tides, currents and traffic of Puget Sound, the San Juans and the Strait of Juan de Fuca reward local knowledge.

What this route demands

Why owners hire a licensed captain for it

The open Pacific coast

The stretch between Northern California and the Columbia River has long gaps between safe harbors. We plan the passage around real weather windows instead of pushing into a closing one.

Puget Sound & San Juan navigation

Strong tidal currents, ferry traffic and narrow passes through the San Juans and the Strait of Juan de Fuca demand attention and local knowledge at the northern end of the run.

A short, weather-driven season

The best windows for a Northwest passage are limited. We time the delivery for the season and the boat rather than hoping for a lucky stretch.

Long coastal-offshore legs

Even coastwise, the run to or from California is days at sea. Proper watchkeeping, offshore safety gear, and a self-sufficient boat are what keep it uneventful.

Questions about this route

Do you deliver yachts between the Pacific Northwest and California?

Yes — the Seattle/Anacortes to California run is one of our most frequent, in both directions, on power and sail. We also deliver to and from Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska from the Northwest.

How long does a delivery between Seattle and San Diego take?

Typically about 7–12 days each way depending on the vessel's speed and the weather, plus preparation on each end. It's a coastal-offshore passage with long legs between safe harbors, so we plan it around weather windows.

Do you know the waters of Puget Sound and the San Juans?

Yes. We regularly deliver into and out of Anacortes, Seattle, Gig Harbor and the surrounding waters, and plan for the tides, currents and traffic of the Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
